I'm not sure where this show will live on the web, and I'll be working on incorporating many more things over here @ Magnet Media, possibly even Insomnia Radio "Proper" so stay tuned. I realize some of you may be getting duplicate content if you're subscribed to my blog. Working on a way to fix that.

I'll be putting this down the Insomnia Radio pipe for a few days to get the word out. Your feedback is important here!

The crew at 75/15 minutes is a well oiled machine. Why? Because they have a team of contributors helping them find excellent music.

I've been essentially doing the IR thing solo, with the exception of guest hosts for Double Shots, for over a year, and I simply can't continue this way without pulling my hair out, turning into an alcoholic, and going prematurely grey.

So, I am looking to emulate their model as it were.

Looking for 3 people to consistently submit one great track per week for the show. Your task would be to find only ONE quality track, obtain permission for it, and forward it to me.

You would be listed as official IR staff of course, and I'm sure the relationship could be extended in other ways down the road.

This is a serious position, and a vital part of IR's continued success. If you're interested, shout it to the heavens... Or just use your keyboard.

Happy New Year gang! Next post: Insomnia Radio 50.

Bonus show this week! I'm warning everyone now: IR 46 has at LEAST 25 F-Bombs and numerous other offensive things. IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, SKIP THIS SHOW. I would rather have less listeners than a slew of unhappy ears. I've warned ya here and in the title of the actual show ;-)

Inspired by MFJ: RocketSauce, I set out to record a loud, explicit, angry show (to match my mood this week) fueled by all manner of hard music. Mission accomplished. Special thanks to Joshua and Julie for their introduction and interlude. Also a shout to Pure Pwnage, whose clip I stole for the introduction. (reference Episode 3 of their hilarious web show)

Running Time: 30 Minutes (Just music, no blah blah from me!)
Rating: R. Without a doubt. You've been warned!

The Hard Music:
  1. Bomb Child: I Believe *This band is the 2nd coming of Guns N Roses. No lie*
  2. The Rocking Scoundrels: I Wanna Ride
  3. Blood for Blood: Some Kind of Hate
  4. Danny Jones: Whiskey and Me
  5. Ducky Boys: Crumbling Heart
  6. The Gecko Brothers: One Loud Fuckin Family
  7. Burning View: Save Yourself
  8. Alkaline Trio: Keep 'em Coming

A slight departure from our normal format. 5 songs instead of 8, which I believe lends itself to a tighter show, but you be the judge. Does this mean you'll be getting less IR? Nope. I'm working towards two shows per week!

  1. Fredalba: Leaders of the Wasteland

  5. Adam Boucher: Talking Crematorium Blues

I woke up this morning to an audio message from Swoopy @ Skepticality, tearfully explaining that Derek, her co-host, and creator and host of AMP'ed, as well as someone I can call my friend, has been struck down with a coma. As I explain in the show, I'm not a praying man, but this goddamn reason enough to start. This still does not feel real. My thoughts and prayers are with Derek and his entire family during this confusing and painful time.

As such, Part 1 is a bit different than intended. The first 20 minutes was recorded a few days prior to hearing the news. Minutes before sitting down to wrap it up today, I heard the news about Derek. The remainder of the show is understandably more somber, and I won't apologize for that. I still hope you enjoy the music and the comments. The giveaways previously mentioned will now appear in Part 2 of Episode 40.

As the chorus states in "Quiet As A Mouse":
"Wake up, you've got a lot of things to do.
Wake up, the sun is rising without you."

Come back to us Derek. We wish you all the best.
Part 1 of 3 contains the following "anti-hits" of Insomnia Radio.

With listener flavored voicemails and audio comments. Thanks to Bob Battams, Matt of Illumination Audio, Josh Olson (monkeypup), Brian of DeFi Radio, and Matt of Digital Detroit Radio.

Nestled about 50 miles north-east of Indianapolis sits Muncie, Indiana. Semi-conservative, turn of the century gas boom town. Home to Ball State College. But more importantly, it's home to the Good Beer Show and a small batch of overwhelmingly excellent bands, most under the Standard Recording record label.

Sit back for the next hour with your speakers cranked and enjoy what this little city has to offer us.

And now, the Bands: Standard Recording
Home to Margot, Pravada, Killjoy Confetti, and Everything Now!

All the thanks on this one goes out exclusively to Jeffrey T Meyer of The Good Beer show. He shipped me a box of CD's from local Muncie bands, warned me against listening to Margot, and the rest is history. Hope you all enjoy this, and hopefully I got all my facts straight :-) See ya gang.

Hi gang. Today marks the early release of iTunes 4.9, complete with podcasting built in!

I'm setting up a different feed JUST for iTunes. If you'd like to add Insomnia Radio to your iTunes sofware, please use this link (and you can simply drag and drop it into your podcasts area): Insomnia Radio RSS

Now, before you get upset, I am NOT changing my RSS again! Lol. Simply adding one strictly for iTunes. The PRIMARY reason for this is that Feedburner will VERY soon allow users to enter additional, iTunes compatible information into their feed, making everyone's life much easier. So, whether you create your own RSS, or it's created for you, everyone is on the same playing field. So please add that feedburner link to your iTunes ok?...

I.R. is not yet in the iTunes Podcast Directory, but I have a hunch that the more people suggest it, the quicker it will be added.

Apple also issued an iPod update. And I have to say, it kicks ass seeing "Podcasts" on the ole iPod now :-)

Recliner are from San Francisco, California. And I am impressed. So impressed I chose to dedicate the entirety of Insomnia Radio 31 to them. They are a perfect example of a true DIY indie band. If you love their music as much as I do, please buy their CD using the link below. "Make a Friend" was recorded directly to analog tape even! It gives it a warm, thick, classic sound. Enjoy gang!

Quick aside: I recorded this on the "mobile studio" which I'm still tweaking. The voice quality is not what you're used to, but hopefully the music will overshadow that!

A 19 song celebration of music, featuring: 30 episodes already! Thanks for taking the ride with me gang, and for the extra effort it takes to listen in. You rock!

Note: In the show I discussed offering IR 30 in Bookmarkable AAC format, but the filesize is just too unreasonable. As an interim solution, I highly recommend iPodderX or PrimeTime Podcast Receiver, both of which convert to Bookmarkable AAC before moving to iTunes. I realize the show is pretty lengthy today, but hope you find it worthwhile!

This episode is special to me. Please enjoy :-)

Multiple disclaimers: Sometimes one should NOT go back and listen to the show they just recorded. This can result in repeated cursing when one realized they misprounounced "bullocks" "DIY" and several other hosting disasters...

But it's all about the music right? So forgive the lack of brain power and caffeine as I bring you a short show focusing a bit on the mellow...
